Hi @IBain,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I'm sorry to hear about the frustrating issue with your HP Envy 360's touchpad getting stuck. Dealing with hardware problems, especially on a new device, can be disheartening. Let’s try to get to the bottom of this.
- Does the touchpad physically stick (as if something is lodged underneath), or is it more of a software-related issue where clicks are unresponsive?
- Have you noticed any specific scenarios, like pressure on the palm rest or using certain gestures, that trigger the touchpad to get stuck?
- Have you tried checking for dirt or debris under the touchpad or adjusting the sensitivity settings in Windows?
- Was there any liquid spillage happened?
Let's try these steps.
Inspect for Dirt or Debris
- Use a can of compressed air to gently clean around the edges of the touchpad.
- Inspect visually to ensure no dirt or debris is trapped under the touchpad. If something seems stuck, carefully use a thin, non-metallic tool to clean around the edges.
Update Touchpad Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > **Device Manager`).
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices and right-click your touchpad driver. Select Update driver.
- If the issue persists, consider uninstalling the driver and restarting your laptop, allowing Windows to reinstall the default driver.
Adjust Touchpad Settings
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Lower the touchpad sensitivity to reduce unintended clicks or stuck-like behavior.
- Test different configurations, such as disabling tap-to-click, to see if the issue improves.
Check for Physical Faults
- Gently press around the edges of the touchpad to see if certain areas cause sticking or unusual resistance.
- If the touchpad seems loose or uneven, it may indicate a manufacturing defect, and professional repair or replacement might be necessary.
Run HP Diagnostic Tools
- Open the HP Support Assistant and run the touchpad diagnostics.
- If the tool detects hardware faults, contact HP Support for warranty repair since the device is still relatively new.
If the issue persists after trying these steps, and especially if the touchpad sticks physically, it’s likely a hardware issue. Since your laptop is still under warranty, I recommend reaching out to HP Phone Support for repair.
Refer to Keyboard troubleshooting and test the keyboard along with the touchpad
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
