Every time I attempt to update the USB Input Device Driver, I receive an error message. I continue to receive a pop-up from PC Helpsoft Driver Updater every time I login to my PC. How can I get the pop-up to stop or find out how to update the driver. Help me please.. Thanks,

Remove PC Helpsoft Driver Updater Pop-up

This software is not affiliated with HP and may cause unnecessary alerts or even install incorrect drivers.

To uninstall it:

  1. Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter.
  2. In the Programs and Features window, locate PC Helpsoft Driver Updater.
  3. Right-click it and select Uninstall.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete the removal.

You can also check Startup Apps:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to the Startup tab.
  • If PC Helpsoft is listed, right-click and choose Disable.

Update USB Input Device Driver Safely

Instead of using third-party tools, use Windows Update or HP's official support tools:

Option A: Use Windows Update

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Optional Updates.
  2. Look for any USB Input Device or HID-compliant device updates.
  3. Install them and restart your PC.

Option B: Use HP Support Assistant

  1. Download or open HP Support Assistant: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
  2. Run the app and check for updates under My devices > Updates.
  3. Install any recommended driver updates.

Manually Install USB Driver (if needed)

If the issue persists, you can manually install the driver:

  1. Visit the official HP driver page for your model: Official HP® Support
  2. Select Windows 11 as your OS.
  3. Look under Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices or Chipset.
