Hi @adamnedak,

Thank you for the response.

I understand your HP S14-cf2517TU laptop is showing a USB Root Hub 3.0 driver error (Code 31). Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart the laptop
A restart clears temporary driver conflicts and allows Windows to reinitialize USB components.

Check Device Manager status
Open Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers and confirm the error code shown on “Intel USB Root Hub (USB 3.0).”

Uninstall the affected USB Root Hub
Right-click the Intel USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) and select Uninstall device. Restart the system so Windows reinstalls the driver automatically.

Reinstall the chipset driver
Download and install the latest chipset driver specific to the HP S14-cf2517TU model and your Windows version, then restart. USB drivers depend on the chipset.

Update the BIOS if available
An outdated BIOS can cause USB controller detection issues. Install the latest BIOS update available for your model before testing again.

Check Windows system files
Open Command Prompt as administrator and run a system file check to repair corrupted Windows driver components.

Disable fast startup
Turn off Fast Startup from Power Options, then shut down and power on the laptop. This helps reload USB hardware correctly.

Test USB functionality after restart
Once the system is fully restarted, reconnect USB devices and confirm whether the error code is cleared and ports are working normally.

I hope this helps.
