Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

HP only warranties their PCs for usage with the OS that comes preinstalled. IF you replace that or add a different OS, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that other OS -- as HP then provides no assistance on that.

Win10 PCs nearly all use UEFI and that poses special problems for installing Linux distros: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2147295

Your best bet for Linux support, since HP does not provide Linux drivers, is to contact the support forum for the Linux distro you are trying to install -- in this case, the Ubuntu Forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/

In the case of Ubuntu or Mint, both Distros will run in Live Mode by booting from the installation media and selecting the option to Try the OS, NOT to Install it. That's the best way to see if your PC will run Linux well. Any hardware that does not work will then range from simple (if there are Linux drivers available) to impossible (if ther are NO Linux drivers available) to install.

Folks there have experience using HP machines with Linux and know a lot about driver sources and dual-booting.

Good Luck
