The PC has a UEFI BIOS.

You would install Windows by booting the installation media from the EFI boot source not the legacy one, and you will be in UEFI mode.

Would I have to convert my mbr disk to gpt before booting it up?

HP Recommended

You can try that first before having to reinstall Windows in UEFI mode.

It never worked for me.

Convert MBR to GPT on Windows 10 without reinstalling Windows! (youtube.com)

If you have to reinstall Windows there should be no need to convert unless you want to.

You can just clean the disk and then install Windows.

  1. Boot up Windows Installation media.
  2. On the first screen, press SHIFT+F10 to open a command prompt window.
  3. Type diskpart and enter.
  4. Type list disk. (look for your disk number, check the size of the disk)
  5. Type select disk . example: select disk0 (select the disk you want to format)
  6. Type clean.
  7. Type convert gpt (optional)
  8. Close the command prompt window.
  9. Continue with the installation.
