I have unexplained folders in my temp folder. I have contacted Microsoft and they don't have an answer. I have two other PC computers and they do not have folders like this. An example is: AED232D0-E2BA-4452-B0FS-DD06CE201C25 The type is "file folder", which means they are not files. They are folders. This has been going on for months. I first discovered this when my computer was taking wayyyy tooo long to load; so I deleted these files and the loading returned to normal. The strange thing is,, there was over 100,000 files in these folders, and if I delete them, 1000's return to show up again. At the moment there are over 6300 Files and over 400 folders. As I mentioned, this does not happen to my other branded PCs, so I am thinking it is connected to the HP brand. My computer is 7 years old. When I do Windows updates I realize there are files that show up in the temp folder due to the update process, but again, I do the updates on my other PCs as well and th
Does anyone have any ideas and to what these are and why they show up?

Hello
sorry, I don't see anything strange here..
the temporary folder, is there for that, used by Windows / microsoft, and other programs ..
I have noticed this several times, it can correspond to several different programs..
Often the file is cleaned automatically, after the operation, only the nomination will remain, the rest is empty
Personally, I use ccleaner regularly.

Thank you for your reply. However, I am left with the question of why this doesn't happen to my other 2 PC computers. This HP computer had windows 10 re-installed and doesn't have any programs on it that the other two don't have. It is basically clean. I don't use it often and is not the main computer I use for daily work. But, as I said in my original post, it accumulates tens of thousands of files on it compared to the other two PCs. And the other two do not have all these strange folders. If these folders are all "legitimately" in the temp folder, what other program could be doing this? Is there anything else I could check or compare against?

Sorry, but mine is random.
but since I regularly clean my temporary files, I don't have time to have anything
all i know is nothing new, and on different computers, depending on updates, windows, programs/installations
Clean computers without viruses!
Try to completely empty the temporary files
and check what happens on restart
check each time if updates are made!
when I looked the other time, one just matched EDge, from the files that were still visible

As you suggested, I emptied out the Temp Folder, then emptied the Recycle Bin -- this took a couple minutes due to the volume of files. Then restarted, and upon restart checked the Temp Folder again. There are 6 TMP Files and 1 SES File. But none of the previous File Folders I referred to in my original post. However this has been going on since January, and typically the File Folders holding thousands of files will re=appear at some point. Normally I shouldn't have to empty my temp folder. The temp files/folders in my other two PCs don't bother anything. But on my HP computer, it was affecting my boot time.. but several minutes. That is how I found out and saw this "strange" occurance.

the best advice I can give you is to use ccleaner, to regularly clean temporary files and others
at some point, we have no choice, files are created, and are not deleted, it's not just this temp folder, there are many different temporary files!
the first time i used this i was freed from several giga used for nothing

with ccleaner you can erase multiple junk files, you can choose what to delete or not, it's quite simple and fast
I do this regularly, so not much, but see:
you can check before which files will be deleted
obviously there are other software of this type, it's up to you what you prefer to do
