My home page for Edge is MSN.COM. When I bring up a news story and begin reading it, there is a box that says "Continue Reading", but when I click on this box, it brings up an entirely new tab with an advertisement for something. I close this tasb and can continue reading, but how can I get rid of the unwanted tab? I run AVG free, and have also tried MacAfee with no help.

Open Microsoft Edge Settings, then go to this section:
Additional:
If you want a laptop network system that is safe from ads, spyware, and malware, use an Adsblock-based network, such as NextDNS (Free and Paid), ControlD (Paid), RethinkDNS (Free). For software, you can use YogaDNS Pro or Technitium DNS Server to configure it, or you can use the Windows built-in DNS feature.
One of the features of NextDNS is that it allows ads only if they are clicked, such as Shopee
Unwanted tabs aka popups usually appear when clicking a link, which link is connected to one of the doubleclick.net ad servers.
Not to mention there is something called a tracker server that is always on every page.
In order for the computer network system to limit these ads and trackers, it must use a DNS Server that can block ads and trackers.
