Hi HP keeps reminding me that I need to update my graphics driver. I have done this 3 times and each time it is just a copy of the previous version. It now wants me to download it again. How can I disable this annoying popup so I dont get told to install it again. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi @chook8

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing repeated prompts to update your Intel High-Definition Graphics Driver and you've already updated it multiple times without resolving the issue, there are a few steps you can take to address this problem. Keep in mind that ensuring your graphics driver is up to date is generally a good practice for system stability and performance

Check the Driver Version: Verify that you have the latest version installed. Sometimes, even if the update is being prompted, the installed version might already be the latest. You can check the current driver version in the Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • Expand the "Display adapters" section.
  • Right-click on "Intel HD Graphics" and select "Properties."
  • Go to the "Driver" tab and check the "Driver Version."

Update through Device Manager: Instead of using the HP update utility, you can manually update the driver through Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • Expand the "Display adapters" section.
  • Right-click on "Intel HD Graphics" and select "Update driver."
  • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."

Disable Automatic Driver Updates: You can disable automatic driver updates through Windows Update. However, keep in mind that this will disable updates for all drivers, not just the graphics driver. Here's how to do it:

  • Press Win + I to open the Settings.
  • Go to "Update & Security" > "Windows Update."
  • Click on "Advanced options."
  • Under "Automatic Updates," select "Notify to schedule restart."

Use Group Policy Editor (Windows Pro and Enterprise): If you're using Windows Pro or Enterprise, you can use the Group Policy Editor to disable automatic driver updates:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
  • Navigate to "Computer Configuration" > "Administrative Templates" > "System" > "Device Installation" > "Device Installation Restrictions."
  • Double-click on "Prevent installation of devices that match any of these device IDs."
  • Select "Enabled" and click "Show."
  • Add the hardware ID for your Intel HD Graphics device.

Use Show or Hide Updates Troubleshooter: Microsoft provides a tool called "Show or Hide Updates Troubleshooter" that allows you to hide specific updates:

  • Download the troubleshooter from the Microsoft website.
  • Run the troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Hide the Intel HD Graphics driver update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
