To: JBRATI - hello, I am wondering if you have truly succeeded in completely removing HP One Agent and if it does not reinstall in a future windows update that contains this One Agent app? If you find this to be true in time (after installing a future windows update that has One Agent as part of that update) it would be very helpful if you would then post all the steps you took (in detail as some of us are not as well versed in technical steps as others) on how you achieved this. Thanks.

HP OneAgent has been installed on my HP laptop twice. The last time HP One Agent was installed, I believe, coincided with when Windows automatically installed the "optional driver" HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.64.3630.0 on 2/29/2024.  Most likely the first time HP One Agent was installed is when Windows automatically installed the "driver" HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.64.3626.0 on 2/8/2024.  So, the HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent would seem to be one of the updates from Windows to keep an eye out for.

In my idea, I think the last apps I removed are those that "require" HPOA. Waiting for next update.

Information for Tallman69:

If you have read the previous posts you should already know that HP One Agent is included in the software component
HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent 1.6x.xxxx.x and that since version HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.63.3600.0.
(See more particularly post BV92 02-19-2024 11:36 AM)

Version history:

HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.64.3630.0" includes HP One Agent 1.1.0.45421
HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.64.3626.0" includes HP One Agent 1.1.0.45421
HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.63.3600.0" includes HP One Agent 1.1.0.43452
HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.62.3534.0" does not include HP One Agent
HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.61.3516.0" does not include HP One Agent

Noticed :

Same HP One Agent version for:
HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.64.3630.0
HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.64.3626.0

We can also observe that the version of HP One Agent (if included) evolves with the 1.6x index of HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent 1.6x.xxxx.x.

May be the next version of HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.6x.xxxx.0 will include a new version of HP One Agent.

Hi BV92,

Thank you.  I realized earlier this morning that I posted the previous information into this thread by mistake.  It was meant for another discussion on HP OneAgent that I am also following.  I tried to delete the post here, but could not figure out how to do that, so I just left it knowing that I was stating information that you had already posted, but in much less detail than you. I truly appreciate all the research you are doing on this issue.  As far as I know, OneAgent has not been included in any other drivers or software that I have downloaded and installed directly from HP.  It has only come to me from MS.

I almost think problem as being solved.

Can you tell me what the Windows program is that you found that allowed someone else to access your computer - I'm having similar problems. Thanks

I have used Quick Assist to give remote assistance for another Windows PC.  It comes preinstalled on Windows 10, but for WIndows11 you have to download it from the Windows Store for free.

If you trust the person helping you, you can change the User Account Control Settings down one notch from the default setting (Notify me only when apps try to make changes to my computer (Do not dim my desktop)), because when your screen is dimmed the helper's screen turns black, so they cannot click yes on the Do you want this program to make changes to your computer box.  Otherwise, you will have to give permission every time that box appears..

The best known tool for distant assistance is Teamviewer.

I added the following path C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{DeviceID}\HPOneAgent.msi to the quarantine section of AvastOne Essential (free version). I also set the AvastOne Essential File Shield to automatically resolve PUP programs. Then I disabled HPOneAgent from the Task Manager startup tab. Then I deleted HPOneAgent.msi and HPOneAgent.exe from the path shown below and then deleted HPOneAgent from the Windows Control Panel programs.

After 24 hours and successive reboots of (3) different Windows11 Home laptops, I can confirm that HPOneAgent is not getting re-installed. I will provide an updated post after the next Windows11 Home update occurs to confirm if HPOneAgent stays blocked.

PS

To HP Management:
Please fire the idiot that is pushing this update out to Windows11 Home users when it was intended for Windows11 Pro and/or corporate computers only. All Windows applications must be capable of being permanently uninstalled with no exceptions! HPOneAgent is a huge invasion of privacy and should be subject to a class action lawsuit.
