HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-1000i (1K4B6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-1214, product number 1K0G3AA#ABA, is running Windows 11. The system has three cooling fans: one in the power supply, one mounted above the processor, and one exhaust fan in the rear of the case.

When Windows puts my external/standalone monitor to sleep, this desktop computer's case and processor cooling fans stop running and the internal temperature increases by more than 20 degrees C. (Note that the *monitor* has been put to sleep, not the *computer*). The fans appear to stop because of the "ID19 HP Fan Control Service" which starts automatically at bootup and runs program "C:\Program Files\FanControlApp\FanControlApp.exe". If I stop this service the fans continue to run when Windows puts the monitor into sleep mode, as they should.

What is the purpose of "ID19 HP Fan Control Service" and program FanControlApp.exe? I can find no documentation for the service or the program. I would like to know why it was installed on my system, what it is for, and whether there is any downside to disabling the service that runs this program.

Edit to correct: an embarrassing number of typos

Hello @Levdiag

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

(1) I found this information about FanControlApp

https://www.freefixer.com/library/file/FanControlApp.exe-305538/

(2) Download and install Autoruns

Information:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns

Download:

https://download.sysinternals.com/files/Autoruns.zip

(3) Please send <Screenshot> of Autoruns Entries:

- we will identify autostart of all windows applications including FanControlApp ...

- disable FanControlApp

(4) Next action is comming

Thank you for your reply, but the links posted don't really explain the purpose of the service and the FanControlApp program, or whether there is any downside to disabling it. And the Autoruns utility isn't needed since, as stated, the service is started at bootup because its startup type is "automatic".

Hello @Levdiag

The software seems suspicious to me. There is no information about it on the Internet!

Recommendation

You should stop the service, delete the contents of the directory where the service is located and restart your computer. Autorun is helpful to identify involved startups of this software. It does not have to be only the service ! Think about it.

Since I don't know the history of your machine, I can only guess.

Good luck
