@ohhope, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

Congrats on your new HP All-in-One desktop. I’ll guide you through how to activate and check your camera and microphone settings in Windows 11.

Step-by-Step: Enable Camera and Microphone

Check for Physical Privacy Switches

Some HP All-in-One models include physical privacy switches or sliders for the camera and microphone:

  • Look around the top bezel of the screen for a camera shutter switch or button.
  • If present, slide or press it to open the camera lens.
  • For the microphone, some models may have a dedicated mute button on the keyboard or chassis.

📌 If you’re unsure about your model’s features, check your product’s manual

Enable Camera and Microphone in Windows Settings

If there’s no physical switch or it’s already open, follow these steps:

Camera:

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  2. Make sure Camera access is turned On.
  3. Also enable Let apps access your camera.

Microphone:

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
  2. Turn Microphone access On.
  3. Enable Let apps access your microphone.

Test the Devices

  • Open the Camera app from the Start menu to test the webcam.
  • Use Voice Recorder or Microsoft Teams to test the microphone.

Check Device Manager

If the camera or mic isn’t working:

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Imaging Devices (for camera) and Audio Inputs and Outputs (for mic).
  3. Right-click and choose Enable device if disabled.
  4. You can also try Update driver.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
