automatic time setting must be turned off and back on each time I restart the computer to sync the time.
I comes up with GMT time instead of US DST
Also I would like to switch to another time server but that is grayed out.

Welcome to HP Community
I have gone through your Post and would like to help
If the time dates are not getting saved it could be an issue with the CMOS Battery
Did you initially setup the computer as US DST or GMT?
If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the "Solution Accepted" on this Post and it will also help other community members with similar issue.

Thanks for the reply Toad:
The computer is brand spank'n now so the battery has gotta be new too.
Yes I did initially set the time to NewYork DST.
So if I don't find a solution it is no big deal cause I only seldom boot into W10.
I have installed linux and use it the most.

If ever you need to use Win 10 permanently you can always try Resetting the Notebook and check if that helps
