@5CG024DRNR, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Based on the image you've shared, you're encountering the following error while trying to install a biometric driver on your HP Desktop:

"Install Error: The INF file you've selected does not support this method of installation. The required section was not found in the INF."

This typically means that the driver file you're trying to install manually (likely c_biometric.inf_amd) is either:

  • Not compatible with your system or Windows version, or
  • Not meant to be installed via right-click > "Install".

Here's how to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Use HP Support Assistant (Recommended)

  1. Download and install HP Support Assistant from - HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
  2. Open the app and let it detect your device.
  3. Go to the "Updates" tab and install any available biometric or fingerprint drivers.

Step 2: Use Device Manager to Install the Driver

If you already have the correct .inf file:

  1. Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Biometric Devices (or Unknown Devices if not listed).
  3. Right-click the device → Update driver.
  4. Choose Browse my computer for drivers → Navigate to the folder containing the .inf file.
  5. Click Next and follow the prompts.

Step 3: Download the Correct Driver from HP Website

  1. Visit HP Software and Driver Downloads.
  2. Enter your HP Desktop model number.
  3. Select your Windows version.
  4. Download the Fingerprint Sensor or Biometric Device driver listed.
  5. Run the installer (usually a .exe file) instead of using the .inf file directly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
