so i currently have a 

HP 15-fc0017na 15.6in AMD Ryzen 5 8GB 256GB Laptop

344/3499 and i am wondering if i can game on it while it is charging for extended periods of time?(8-12 hours or more)

Yes, that should be fine.

 

The only thing I don't recommend you do is to leave the notebook plugged in to A/C power 24/7/365 with the battery in a constant 100% charge state or that may lead to battery swelling.

i turned on this adaptive battery optimiser  setting in bios, would that prevent swelling?

It will certainly help, but it will not prevent the battery from being in a 100% charge state if you leave the notebook plugged in to A/C power all of the time.
