For the past few weeks, I cannot open the photo app within Windows/File Explorer.  When I click on iCloud Photos, it starts loading, green bar at the top is moving, and and I can see the blue mountain icon of the photos, but cannot click on a photo. It shows the number of photos that I have, but I can no longer open them.  After a while, the green bar freezes, there's a blue circle turning and after that, google, iTunes, etc. anything that I have open freezes and I have to restart the PC.

I've run several clean-up disk suggestions, scannow and many other cleanup disk suggestions I've seen online, as well as made sure Windows is updated...

Not sure -- I've had occasional problems with iCloud on Windows -- not recently, but it has happened.

Set up iCloud for Windows on your PC

Mutterings and Details...

Seems like the last time iCloud ended up in an impossible knot, (that) I ended up uninstalling iCloud from the computer and reloading the iCloud app.

Might be simple as signing out of iCloud and then signing  into iCloud via the iCloud icon > Settings in the Taskbar

I do have the space on my PC so I have set iCloud Photos to download the photos to the computer.

Location of iCloud Photos folder >> User Account on Windows PC > folder Pictures

Apple wants / requires 2-step verification / App Password for the "Passwords" option.

Thanks so much for your response!  I will try signing out of iCloud and signing back in. And  if that doesn't work,  I'll then try uninstalling and reinstalling the iCloud app.
