Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Desktop  Pavillon Windows 10.  Issues with hardwired desktop losses internet  connection over time when not working on the computer.  Have to hit the refresh button.

You did not identify your system, but I suspect the ethernet card is sleeping or in low power mode

 

Bring up the device manager network page

Find the ethernet adapter that has the problem

 

Set "energy efficient:" to disabled

In power management (an adapter setting) uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power.

 

There may be other settings but I need to know the model or the Product ID

If the above does not help then you need to use hibernate instead of sleep.
