Hi @cepot,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When keys on a keyboard stop working, there are several steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the problem. Here's a structured approach to troubleshoot the issue with your HP All-In-One keyboard.

Check for Physical Obstructions

  • Debris and Dirt: Turn off the computer and gently shake the keyboard upside down to dislodge any debris. You can also use compressed air to clean between the keys.
  • Stuck Keys: Press the V and B keys multiple times to see if they are stuck. Sometimes keys can become stuck due to dirt or debris.

Software Issues

  • Restart Your Computer: A simple restart can sometimes resolve software-related issues.
  • Update Drivers: Ensure that your keyboard driver is up-to-date.
    1. Open Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
    2. Expand the "Keyboards" section.
    3. Right-click on your keyboard and select "Update driver."
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to search for and install any updates.
  • Reinstall Keyboard Driver:
    1. In Device Manager, right-click on the keyboard and select "Uninstall device."
    2. Restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Test the Keyboard on Another Device

  • External Testing: If you have another computer or can connect your keyboard to a different device, test the keys there to rule out a hardware problem.

Check for Software Conflicts

  • Safe Mode: Boot your computer in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If the keys work in Safe Mode, a software conflict might be causing the problem.
  • On-Screen Keyboard: Use the on-screen keyboard to test if the V and B keys work virtually (accessible through Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard).

Hardware Issues

  • Inspect the Connection: Ensure that the keyboard is properly connected, especially if it’s wired. For wireless keyboards, check the battery and connection.
  • Replace the Keyboard: If none of the above steps work, the issue might be a hardware failure.

Advanced Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard Test Software: Use keyboard diagnostic software to check if the keys are recognized by the system.
  • BIOS Settings: Check if the keys work in the BIOS. Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Delete during startup). If the keys don't work in the BIOS, it's likely a hardware issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
