Thank you for pausing in to HP forum.

That sounds like a concerning and inconvenient issue. Let’s carefully go step by step to bring your HP laptop back to normal. The problem could be due to a stuck Delete key, a malfunctioning touchpad or mouse, or even system corruption. Here’s what to do systematically:

1: Check for Stuck Keys or Input Device Issues

  1. Disconnect any external keyboard or mouse — sometimes a faulty mouse or keyboard sends continuous delete commands.

  2. Inspect your laptop keyboard — gently press each key, especially Delete, Ctrl, and Shift, to make sure none are stuck.

  3. Try using the on-screen keyboard:

    • Press Windows + Ctrl + O → turn On-Screen Keyboard on.

    • If files don’t delete when using the on-screen keyboard, your physical keyboard might be the cause.

2: Check Mouse or Touchpad Behavior

  1. Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Mouse.

  2. Temporarily disable any custom mouse gestures or third-party mouse software.

  3. If using a touchpad, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Touchpad, and reduce sensitivity or disable tap gestures to see if it helps.

  4. Try to uninstall and install the touchpad drivers
  • device manager > mice and other pointing devices > expand > select driver > right click > uninstall device

Once done > restart pc and test

Please let us know if this resolves the issue. If not, we are here to guide you through the next steps and get your system back up and running.
