Just set up my new desktop computer and I have a cable with usb c on each side, and no port to put them in. I think I need them to run my webcam and microphone. My desktop literally sent me a message when I was setting it up that webcam and microphone were not connected and not working.

They wouldn't send me a cable that I didn't need, right?

thanks in advance

Many of the newer PC have USB-C ports in addition to the more traditional USB-A ports, which is probably why they sent you a USB-C only cable.

But you can go online and purchase a USB-C to USB-A connector and use that to connect the cable to a USB-A port on your PC.

Good Luck
