How does the BIOS get updated in this p6000f series desktop PC which has the Hp H-RS880-uATX Motherboard in it? My BIOS is the earliest which is 6.02 from 2010 and I would like to update it to the latest which I think is 6.11.
Where can I find the BIOS to download and recently I discovered that pressing esc. gives me a boot menu that also includes USB.
Is the BIOS updated or flashed using a bootable USB or is it updated through the OS like my 2004 MSI Socket 939, and my MSI Krait edition ?
I have flashed older hardware as well using a boot floppy with the BIOS software but of course even though floppy is indicated in the BIOS, there are no provisions on this board to install a floppy drive.

Hi @hennmann,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
As this is an obsolete model the drivers may not be available.
However, you may run the updates from HP Support Assistant by following the steps listed below:
1. Download the current version from this Weblink
2. Click on Updates and Messages to scan for new updates.
3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
You may also refer to the HP document to download and use HP Support Assistant by visiting this Weblink.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

After numerous searches the closest to this situation I could find was this thread with the following posts:
After reading this I downloaded this BIOS version 6.11 from here
Additional comments state that this BIOS is installed by clicking on it at its saved location such as your desktop and it is also strongly suggested to only do this on a Windows 7/64 bit OS and there is no information on whether it will work on Windows 10/64 which this PC is currently running on. To me this is no big deal and I can swap the HD and install Windows 7 on it just for the BIOS update.
During my search I noticed that there are NUMEROUS models using the same board or allegedly the same board and on some threads where people were asking about CPU upgrades and some people with the "same" motherboard discovered documentation indicating 95 watts maximum and others discovered 125 watts maximum for the CPU. It has also been mentioned some HP units were recalled and the motherboard was replaced with what looks like the same board with the same "model number" but it is a newer revision.
Is this really the case here and if so, what exactly will this BIOS flash work with??
Not only is this BIOS file difficult to locate, including numerous dead ends such as EOL, discontinued, or off warranty and it was pretty much stumbling upon this file and information!!
Here is my motherboard information except with more detail:
INFINEON-B
620887-001 H-ALVORIX-RS880-uATX 1.00 S/N [Personal Information removed]
The INFINEON-B
620887-001 is a white label or decal ahead of the H-ALVORIX and the S/N is another label or decal after the RS880uATX as well.
I'm discovering numerous models not even close to my model number allegedly use the same?? motherboard? Does this BIOS file work on them all? Once I start the flash procedure it is do or die and I don't want to brick the motherboard in this computer.

Thanks
Since I currently have Windows 10/64 Home on this PC I will try the link and see what is available. Other than this I downloaded the BIOS requiring Windows 7/64 as well just in case nothing else shows up and it is very little effort to stick in a spare hardrive and install Windows 7 if required. Realistically I don't know why they "retired" this PC because with the AM3 two core it performed great with Windows 10 and since I had the Athlon 640 quad core, that also helped big time. Recently I discovered a Phenom II 1055T 95 watt for sale for $27+free shipping and there is very little difference in the specs between the 1055T and the 1065T except many are for sale for $75-$100+ for very little gained. For $27 for a 6 core 95 watt and not much cost for upgrading the RAM, this computer is still very usable.
Yes limited for expansion in regards to PCI slots (none) but for the average user wanting a computer for browsing the web, receiving emails and misc. other uses it is more than good enough.
