Hi @JaBel1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If you want to copy data from old drives from your HP Pavilion p7-1225 Desktop PC, you don’t necessarily need a full desktop replacement. Here are some cost-effective solutions based on your needs:
Use a SATA to USB Adapter (Best for Quick Data Transfer)
If your old drives are SATA HDDs or SSDs, the easiest and cheapest method is to use a SATA to USB adapter or docking station.
Example: UGREEN SATA to USB 3.0 Adapter or Sabrent USB 3.0 to SATA Docking Station
Plug the old hard drive into the adapter and connect it to a new PC via USB.
Your new PC will recognize it as an external drive, allowing you to copy all files easily.
Install the Old Drive into a New Desktop
If you’re planning to buy a new desktop PC, you can:
Get a PC with available SATA ports.
Physically install the old HDD/SSD inside the new desktop.
Copy the data from the old drive to the new system.
Use an External Hard Drive Enclosure (If You Need to Keep the Old Drive Functional)
If you want to continue using the old drive as an external storage device, use an external hard drive enclosure.
Example: ORICO 3.5" USB 3.0 Hard Drive Enclosure (for desktop HDDs).
Convert the old HDD/SSD into a portable external drive that connects via USB.
Cloud or Network Transfer (If the Old PC Still Works)
If your HP Pavilion p7-1225 still runs, you can:
Transfer data over a home network (using shared folders).
Upload to cloud storage (Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.) and download it to a new PC.
Let me know which solution works best for you.
