Hi  @prproduction1

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out. I understand you're seeing the error message:

"The code execution cannot proceed because hp-shared-wmi-client.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

I will certainly help you with this.

To better understand the situation, could you kindly share the below details?

  • The exact HP product model (Link for steps - click here
  • The Windows version currently installed (Windows 10 or Windows 11)
  • When did the error first appear?
  • Does the error occur during startup or only when opening a specific HP application?
  • Which HP application is triggering the error?

In the meantime, kindly try the following steps:

  1. Restart the PC
    • A simple restart can sometimes reload missing application components correctly.
  2. Update Windows
    • Go to Settings -Windows Update and install all available updates.
    • Restart the computer after the updates complete.
  3. Repair or Reinstall the HP Application
    • Open Settings -Apps -Installed Apps.
    • Locate the HP application associated with the error.
    • Select Advanced Options -Repair.
    • If the issue continues, uninstall the application and download the latest version from HP's support website.
  4. Run System File Checker
    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:
    • sfc /scannow
    • Allow the scan to complete and restart the system.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
