Where do you keep your photos ? On your Galaxy or on the cloud ? If on your Galaxy where do you keep them ? On your internal device or on SD card ?
Now please try
(a) Plug your Galaxy charger cable to your computer (one end to phone and one end to computer),
(b) Open File Explorer, your Galaxy should appear as Galaxy s5 device,
(c) From your Galaxy, allow computer to access to it,
(d) From File Manager, click Galaxy to list all folders, your photos should be in Galery or Camera roll folders.
Regards.

I keep photos on Galaxy S5. I think it is kept on internal device, not sure. But I tried the instructions when I opened File Explorer. Eventhough, I did not actually see Galaxy S5, I saw Samsung-SM-G900V. When I tried opening the file, my PC still did not see any photos.
I get the following message every time I use my USB cable to my pc and Galaxy S5:
"We're having trouble connecting. Make sure your device is unlocked and that you accept the notification to connect"
I do not get any notification to connect. I am now playing around with OneDrive for photos to see if I can luck out some how with this app. I am taking a break for now though.
