recently i lost my charger while traveling. i’m in need of a new one because of my full time job. i recently bought a 45w HP Travel Charger and it did not charge my computer. i asked for a charger at the school and they gave me a universal charger that worked, so the battery is not the problem. the problem is that i do not know the voltage i would need in a charger. best buy says i need an 180w charger, but i thinks that’s outrageous. any ideas?

Hi:
If you enter the product number of your PC in the box at the link below, it will give you the part number and description for the charger you need.
Chapter 3, page 22 of the service manual shows two supported chargers.
AC adapter:
135-W HP Smart AC adapter (PFC, RC, slim, 4.5-mm) L15534-001
90-W HP Smart AC adapter (PFC, RA, 4.5-mm) 937532-850
The power cord that goes from the wall socket to the charger is sold separately.
You may want to check on eBay for a used but genuine tested and working charger once you determine exactly which of the two you need. Many times the used chargers come with the power cord too.
Otherwise you can see if HP has the parts you need at the link below.
