HP 27f 27-inch 4K Display
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Hello there,

my monitor starts flickering now and then out of nowhere, and I don't know where this is coming from. This always goes away after some time, but recently it got worse. Now content from past windows is "stuck" on the display, meaning I can still see it overlaying over content from different windows.

I tried different HDMI cables, different HDMI Inputs and also pulling the power cable and reconnecting it in every possible combination.

How can I fix this? Is this repairable?

Cheers

@carlito114, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

  • Restart your Mac and reset the PRAM/NVRAM by holding Option + Command + P + R when it boots.
  • Go to System Preferences > Displays, and make sure your resolution is set to the monitor's native setting (3840 x 2160). Try lowering it if needed.
  • Make sure macOS is up to date and check if there are any firmware updates for your monitor.
  • Try connecting your HP monitor to a different device (like another laptop). If the issue still happens, the monitor may be the problem.
  • Make sure your monitor is plugged directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector) and the power cable is secure.

I hope this helps.
