HP Pavilion 20fi 20-inch Diagonal IPS LED Backlit Monitor
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I brought this monitor from my office, and connected it to my laptop for a dual monitor setup through vga to hdmi converter. It got connected, recieved the signal on the monitor, but it didn't show anything except

"input signal out of range change settings to 1600x900-60hz"

I googled alot, saw countless videos, it showed to change the resolution, i did that too, but didn't work. I contacted Microsoft support, they asked me to share my screen and they took remote access and told that they can see the other screen on the their end and that it's a problem from my side. I don't know what's happening now, cause back in office it works fine with the CPU.. also I have an old LCD monitor that works fine with the current vga converter(though the monitor doesn't have a detachable power adapter). Please HELP!
