HP Envy 34C
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I am working on an HP ZBook G3 (Core i7, Nvidia Quadro M2000M). I recently purchased an HP Envy 34C.

After I connected the laptop with the HP Envy 34C monitor, I noticed a significant lag in the mouse movements and response.

That is particulary frustraring as I purhcased the monitor for CAD modeling and designing.Do accuracy is of great importance.

After some  online research there were some possible solutions, that I tried already :

* I purchased a new mouse with higher DPI - Logitech MX Master 2S

* I purchased a new HDMI Cable for 4K monitors

But both solutions didnt fix the issue, finally I noticed that the refresh rate of the screen is 30Hz which I conlcuded is the root of the issue.

The question here is, how can I turn up the 30Hz refresh rate to 60Hz, without compromising resolotuion. I tried the Nvidia manager but it only gives the one option of 30Hz @ 3440X1440. And when I decrease the resolution the colors and sharpness of the screen is heavily affected negatively.

Your help will be much appreciated.

Hi,

The Z Book G3 HDMI 1.4 is not rated for anything past 30 Hz.

Big_Dave, Thank you for your fast reply. I think it makes sense now with your explaination.

Is there a way to upgrade my HDMI from 1.4 to 2.0 (which from my quick research could support 60Hz) ?

I mean, is this a graphics card "upgrade-fix" or not ?

Thanks once more,

MS

Big_Dave, Sorry another thought. How come I can get a 60Hz refresh rate at a lower resolution (2560X1080), which solves the mouse lag problem btw ?

The only issue with this solution, is that the picutre quality deteriorates (i.e. blurriness and color-contrast ratio)?

Sorry to bother with so many details but I want to fully understand before I accept my fate 🙂

Thanks!

I am having the same issue.

I just bought this monitor used and was reading the owner's manual.

I found 60Hz 3440x1440 only available with displayport cable.

I am buying displayport cable today to see any improvement.

Btw, I am running 1080 TI

Here is my update,

Changing the cable to displayport completely fixed the lagging mouse issue.
