Hi! I keep on getting AMD Radeon error pop-up's. My monitor even went all black and would not come back on, so I improperly turned off my PC by holding down the power button because I didn't know what else to do, even though I know that this is not good for my PC's health, nor my connected external hard drive's health. 🙁 I exchanged some messages with AMD support. They had me try a couple of things. Finally, they told me that since the graphics driver that they (AMD) sent me is not working properly, that I need to instead get an AMD graphics driver from HP. They said that HP's would work if AMD's is not working. Where can I get the latest graphics driver from HP? I was also told that I may need the latest bios from HP. Where can I get this? Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Hi @cold103,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering error pop-ups related to AMD Radeon on your HP Pavilion Desktop PC, it's important to diagnose and resolve the issue to ensure your computer functions properly. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and potentially fix these errors.
Update AMD Radeon Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can often lead to error pop-ups. Visit the official AMD website (https://www.amd.com/en/support) to download and install the latest drivers for your AMD Radeon graphics card.
Windows Updates:
- Make sure your Windows operating system is up-to-date. Microsoft regularly releases updates that can include bug fixes and improvements for hardware compatibility.
Check for System Updates:
- Visit the HP support website for your specific model of the Pavilion Desktop PC and check for any firmware or BIOS updates. Sometimes, these updates can resolve hardware-related issues.
Disable or Update Problematic Software:
- If you notice that the error pop-ups occur when using specific software, try updating or reinstalling that software. It's possible that a particular application or game may be causing conflicts with the AMD Radeon drivers.
Check for Overheating:
- Overheating can cause hardware errors. Ensure that your computer's cooling system is functioning correctly. Clean any dust from the fans and ensure proper airflow to prevent overheating.
Event Viewer:
- Check the Windows Event Viewer for error messages related to AMD Radeon. It can provide more detailed information about the issues you're encountering.
Safe Mode Testing:
- Boot your computer into Safe Mode (press F8 or Shift + F8 during startup) to see if the error pop-ups still occur. If they don't, this may indicate a software conflict.
System Restore:
- If the issue started recently, consider using System Restore to revert your computer to a previous state when it was functioning correctly.
Remember to back up important data before attempting any major updates or changes to your system. Troubleshooting graphics card issues can be complex, and it's essential to ensure you have a backup of your data in case you need to perform a clean installation of drivers or your operating system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
