@Stan737700, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Restart Windows Explorer
This often fixes missing icons:
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Find Windows Explorer in the list.
Right-click it and choose Restart.
Show Desktop Icons
If it’s just the desktop icons:
Right-click on your desktop.
Hover over View.
Make sure Show desktop icons is checked.
Check Start Menu Settings
If they’re missing from the Start menu:
Right-click the Taskbar and choose Taskbar settings.
Scroll down and check settings under Start or Personalization > Start.
Toggle Show recently added apps or Show most used apps as needed.
Use System Restore (If recent change caused this)
If the issue just started:
Search for “System Restore” in the Start menu.
Open it and select a restore point from before the issue occurred.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
