I am very pleased with my PC .

I upgraded the RAM from 6 to 16 GB DD3, and put in a SSD hard disk.

My son wants to play Microsoft flight simulator 2020, but it keeps crashing while loading the game.

I assume that the problem is the old supplied graphic card Nvidia Geforce GT 545.

My question is , can i upgrade a better graphic card in my HP to play Microsoft Flight simulator , or is it really necessary to purchase a new PC?

Please if anyone has the answer.

hi

Sorry @Ko1963

but check your bios version
the last one available it seems to me would be this
IPISB-CH2 Motherboard BIOS Update
7.12 Rev. TO
It is very likely that your bios is not of the uefi type
in this case you will not be able to install what you want anyway
And so, you will not be able to enjoy this game comfortably

In theory only old graphics cards
AMD Radeon HD 6xxx cards, or a Nvidia GT (X) 6xx card
can be used
on condition of having the required power supply for the chosen model

in addition, the recommended processor, i5 8400, the better i7-9800
you have an Intel Core i7-2600 , it is very likely that this is not enough either!

It might be time to change it, if your kid wants to be able to use newer games.

@Ko1963 -- is this your computer: HP Pavilion HPE h8-1121 Desktop PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

It was released in 2011 -- ten years ago!

I wonder if the original disk-drive is beginning to fail, and causing the crashes.

Restart your computer, and immediately press the ESC key, and then choose to run the HP Hardware Diagnostics, to check the "health" of your hardware.  Do this before spending any money on a different graphics adapter.

Thanks for your quick reply, but as i mentioned, the original HDD disk drive I'd replaced with a SSD disk drive. The game crashes while loading.

But anyway , i will try your suggestion and keep you posted.

Hi

the hp site gives three references for the model you gave in title but no characteristics information

the power supply in place, will limit you in the choice ; have you perhaps been aware of its power ( 400w 500 w 600 w )?
it may be complicated to replace it

do you know which graphics card is recommended for this game ?

I do appreciate your help very much.

@Ko1963 -- to repeat, is this your computer: HP Pavilion HPE h8-1121 Desktop PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

This page states:

Processor: Intel Core i7 2600

  • Operating speed: 3.4 GHz (up to 3.8 GHz turbo)
  • Number of cores: 4
  • Socket: LGA1155
  • Bus speed: DMI (Direct Media Interface) - 2.5GT/s

and has four 240-pin DDR3 DIMM sockets, and supports 1 GB, 2 GB, and 4 GB DIMMs, and supports up to 16 GB on 64-bit systems

and AMD Radeon HD 6850  and Interface: PCI Express x16 and 1 GB onboard memory

So, any graphics adapter card that fits the PCIe x16 socket, and is not too long to physically fit inside your computer case, and has 8 GB of onboard memory should be compatible.

Thanks for your reply Its my name.

But my computer is :

HP Pavilion HPE
Model: h8-1103nl
Product number: H0D47A#ABH

NOT the one you mentioned.

So, any graphics adapter card that fits the PCIe x16 socket, and is not too long to physically fit inside your computer case, and has 8 GB of onboard memory should be compatible.

But would it support Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020??????

@Ko1963 -- But would it support Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 ??????

Since my computer is not the same model as your computer, and I do not have a graphics adapter card that matches the specifications, I cannot supply a 100% answer.

My recommendation is to find an "owner/operator" computer store that sells such a graphics adapter, and take your computer to that store, and get them to install the adapter, and test it. If it works, purchase it.

If it does not work, ask them to try a different card. If none of their cards work for you, say "thank you for trying", and take your computer home with you, and then self-install your current card.
