HP Pavilion All-in-One - 27-d0014na
Microsoft Windows 11

When I turn on my HP Pavillion it starts up fine without any issues. However, I also have a 32" LG monitor. When I connect this using HDMI whilst my HP Pavillion is on, again no issues at all. However, If I shut down and forget to disconnect the LG monitor before I start up, the HP pavillion starts with a black screen and also there is no display on the LG monitor. I then need to disconnect the LG monitor, do a hard shut down and then start again without the LG monitor connected. Does anyone have similar issues or can anyone advise how I can overcome this problem please?

@Ansaman -- how I can overcome this problem

Can you remember to "power-off" the external monitor before you shutdown Windows?

If you do, does your computer boot properly.  Then, after it has booted, power-on the external monitor.

Does this work?

Hi there ‘Itsmyname’.

Thanks for your response. I tried switching off the LG monitor before shutting down with the HDMI cable still connected.

Unfortunately when I start up again I still have the black screen. I tried this on both shutdown and restart.

It’s not a huge issue for me as I just have to remember to disconnect the HDMI to the LG monitor before starting up my HP all in one. Once started, I simply connect the HDMI to the LG monitor and it works fine. It’s a little frustrating/annoying and there is probably an easy fix. But appreciate the help in any case. Thank you. Happy for any other suggestions anyone may have.
