Hi @GGof5

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I understand that you are getting the Message to check the HDMI cable when you do not even have an external monitor connected to your

I'd like to help.

I suggest you do a Power Drain. Shut down the AIO computer and remove the AC Adapter. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds without any power source. This will drain out any static charges from the AIO Computer.

Restart the computer and if you still see the " check HDMI cable " message, please check and press the HDMI Source Button to switch the display.

Please refer to this picture to locate the HDMI Source Button ( No 5 ).

  1. Webcam and microphones

  2. Screen

  3. Optical disk drive

  4. Power button

  5. HDMI source button

  6. Bottom I/O ports

  7. Speakers

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you. 🙂

We just bought an HP all in one Pavilion and after shutting it down, when I try to restart I get an error message on the screen that says check HDMI input.

I have tried unplugging the machine, holding down the power button, etc. and still my machine will not reset.  Please help!

I didn't realize until I discovered this myself. There is no light for the Power On/Ooff on the newer machines. I had been touching the HDMI button all along. It's nuts!
