I tried all suggestions available in the forum and youtube, but no luck.
1. It's not shown in device manager, even after I chose "show hidden devices"
2. In device manager, camera is also not available under imaging device. Even after "add legacy hardware", reboot and scan hardware changes.
3. Camera settings on privacy, apps are all in "allowed" mode.
4. Windows defender nor antivirus is blocking camera access.
5. System restore point just happened to be unavailable.
Please help. I am surprised there is no an executable driver that we can just download and install. Or is there?

Hi @bonjovi-tb830,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with the camera not appearing in Device Manager despite trying various troubleshooting steps. Here are a few additional steps and considerations that might help resolve the issue.
BIOS Settings: Sometimes, the camera might be disabled in the BIOS settings. Restart your HP laptop and enter the BIOS (usually by pressing Esc, F2, or Del key during startup). Check if there's an option related to the camera or webcam and ensure it's enabled.
Update BIOS and Drivers: Ensure your laptop's BIOS is up to date. Sometimes, BIOS updates can resolve hardware recognition issues. Additionally, update all other drivers through the HP support website, especially chipset and camera drivers if available.
HP Support Assistant: Use the HP Support Assistant software to check for any updates related to your camera or system firmware. This tool can often identify and automatically update necessary drivers.
Check Physical Connections: Ensure there's no physical damage to the camera and its connection to the motherboard. If possible (and safe), you might consider opening up the laptop to check the camera's connection.
System File Checker: Run the System File Checker tool to scan for and restore any corrupted system files that might be affecting hardware recognition. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command:
sfc /scannow
Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, Windows updates include fixes for hardware recognition issues. Make sure your system is fully updated.
Regarding your inquiry about an executable driver download, HP typically provides drivers through their official support website. You can search for your laptop model, navigate to the drivers section, and download any available camera or chipset drivers specific to your model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
