Hi @MPJones1
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your camera is showing a grey screen, there could be a few different issues causing it. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and hopefully fix the issue:
1. Check Camera Access Settings
- Windows Settings: Make sure the app you're using (like Zoom, Skype, or your camera app) has permission to access the camera.
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
- Make sure the Camera access for apps is turned on, and check that the specific app you're using is listed and allowed to access the camera.
2. Close Other Applications Using the Camera
- If you have multiple programs open that use the camera (such as Skype, Teams, or Zoom), close them all to make sure there’s no conflict. Sometimes the camera might only allow one app to use it at a time.
3. Restart Your Computer
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve camera issues. After rebooting, check if the camera works properly.
4. Update Camera Drivers
- Outdated or corrupted camera drivers can cause issues like a grey screen.
- Right-click the Start Menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Imaging Devices section.
- Right-click your camera (it might be listed as "Integrated Camera," "Webcam," or something similar) and choose Update Driver.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software and let Windows search and install any available updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
