HP ENVY All-in-One - 32-a1055
Microsoft Windows 11

I would like to use my AIO Envy 32 A1055 in monitor-only mode.  Ideally being able to shut it down when not in use and restart it as a monitor without having to also start the AIO's native OS (Windows 11).  I'd be using the AIO strictly as a monitor, not as a PC.  I know the AIO has an input HDMI port and I would be using that as input from another PC (Mac MINI M1) and I'd rather not have the Windows 11 OS running at all while the MINI is being used - I just want the AIO to be used as a monitor as if there were no OS on it at all.  I do know how to switch to HDMI Input so I guess I'm really asking if that selection is persistent when the AIO is shut down and then restarted - does it restart in HDMI Input mode or does HDMI Input have to be selected again after a restart?

Hi@MorganRyzen,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are looking to run the HP Envy AIO PC in monitor mode only.

I have a few recommendations

  • On the HP Envy all-in-one desktop, for example, the "HDMI IN" port is located on the lower left hand side of the monitor. To use HP Envy all-in-one as a monitor, just plug in your HDMI output device and switch the computer from PC mode to HDMI mode using the HDMI IN button under the bottom left hand side of the display.
  • If you want you can connect another monitor to your All-in-one computer using the HDMI port available.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for your reply.

I hadn't known about the button under the right side of the monitor.  I'll give it a try.
