Hi:

The RX580 wouldn't work because your PC's power supply does not have the supplemental 8-pin power connector that model card requires.

Do you have the SFF or CMT?

dc7800p = CMT (convertible mini tower).

My dc7800 CMT has a 365W power supply.

I thought only the SFF models had the 240W power supply.

What if i buy the sata to 8pin converter to power up that RX580 WOULD it work??Here is my hp compaq dc7800pHere is my hp compaq dc7800p

I wouldn't be able to help you with that.

For one thing, the power supplies are proprietary.

For another thing, there is no way a 240W power supply will be sufficient enough to power the card even with any kind of adapter.

Your math of having 122 Watts free is not taking into account any of the other devices that need power.

The processor alone uses 65 Watts, then you have the DVD drive, hard drive, memory...every device consumes wattage.

If you use this power supply calculator, you will find that the card is way too powerful for your PC:

Click on the Basic tab and enter your PC's info.

This site indicates the recommended P/S for the RX580 is 450W.

AMD Radeon RX 580 Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database

Maybe the RX550 would work because that only draws 50W and needs no supplemental power connector.

Thank you very much for getting back to me..

Please note that the gpu iam talking about is from aliexpress

And its rating power its not 185watts like they say on techpower website i will attach the photo for you This is the gpuThis is the gpuThis are the requirements for the GPUThis are the requirements for the GPU

As for the 122w free power please note that its correct i have taken every component into consideration and my entire system only draws about 118w out 240w i will send you a pic for you to see

That how much power my entire pc is consumingThat how much power my entire pc is consuming

You're very welcome.

Your report of your PC using 118W + the card's power draw of 150W = 268W which exceeds the 240W power supply wattage.

I don't see how the card could work.

Where's the 122W you have to spare?

I see a power deficit of 28W.

I see but how much power does the rx580 amd graphic card draws while at idle???is going to be that 150w??

The reason iam asking is bacause i dont think the graphic card will draw 150w even when iam not doing anything.. i think  150w is maximum power it can consume while doing something intensive..

Please correct me where iam wrong ....and kindly explain the difference between rated power and TDP

Bcz i want to knw exactly how much power is required to power up that gpu.

Bcz i was checking the user manual of my pc it said the TDP of my cpu is 95w and my cpu is a core 2 quad Q6600 but when i check out of that 95w my cpu is only using 45w even when i run heavy loads lyk gaming or crypto mining trying to check weather the cpu wattage will increase to 95w it never increase's it always remains the same 45w..even when running stress tests nothing changes.and the samething  happens to my gpu its consume 6w and its NVIDIA GE FORCE GT 620 1GB ...so i think the same thing will happen with  AMD RX580 as i have seen AMD forums where other people complain that the card does not consume the power labeled on the manufacture box

HP Recommended

I would imagine that the 150W power draw would be the maximum but your PC still doesn't have the power connector the card needs.

Sorry, but I can't help you anymore on this.

Your PC is not designed to support a video card that powerful.
