Cannot get Nvidia graphics card as default in a HP TP01-2165z
12-08-2021 10:59 PM

Hi,
I am having trouble getting my desktop to set my NVidia GT1030 graphics card as default. I have downloaded the new Nvidia driver software and installed it for Windows 11. The Device manager recognizes the Nvidia card as working. I have tried the NVidia control panel, AMD Radeon software menu and Windows System/Display/Graphics and I cannot find a switch to make the Nvidia card as default. Additionally, checking the BIOS, there appears no provision in the BIOS that sets graphics from the motherboard to a graphics card. Any help in determine how to set the NVidia graphics card for to default would be appreciated.

hi
@RedOwl19600 why do you think the card is not by default ??
When installing a graphics card, the monitor must connected to it.
And the built-in should be disabled, as it is mentioned here
https://support.hp.com/hk-en/document/c07496573
Integrated graphics
- AMD Radeon Graphics
note:Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.

A bios update is not without risk!
Be aware that if you are offered to do so, it will be at your own risk, the computer may become unusable, think about it

@RedOwl19600 -- if you hold-down the "Windows" key (bottom-left of your keyboard) and tap the "P" key, does it show that you have two screens?
Or, right-mouse-button click anywhere on your desktop wallpaper, and choose "display settings". You should be able to nominate the external monitor as the "primary" display.

Holding the Windows key and pressing the P key shows the following two small boxes checked as follows:
Box 1 Box 2
X PC Screen Only
X X Duplicate
X X Extend
X Second Screen Only
As I am not familiar with the above settings and I have no idea how to correct anything that needs correcting on the System/Display/ Graphics switches in Windows 11 in order to make the NVidia card as default.
