I have an old HP desktop [HPE Pavillion series]. It originally came with windows 7 and has since been updated to windows 10. I have an even older monitor [Proview brand - over ten years old] that has a vga connector - which I run through an adaptor so it connects with my desktop. I haven't had an issue with it until this last year or so.
The problem is this:
I turn on the desktop and the monitor. The monitor light goes on and it does not show its "no signal" screen, but remains black and flickers every once and a while as if it is trying to make sense of the signal. After somewhere between 2 - 15 minutes the monitor succeeds in finding the signal and no further problem occurs as long as the computer remains on. I can even restart the computer and the monitor retains the signal. However each time I start the computer from "off", this problem occurs and I cannot figure out why... other than the monitor is now outdated, maybe.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for the quick reply.
The monitor did work just fine with windows 10 when I made the switch.
However, since my original post, the monitor has actually gone and died - I can no longer get it to turn on. Thus, I'm guessing that it was just really old and on its last legs. It was 10+ years old so its probably time I got a new one anyways.
Sorry for wasting your time.

@AjaxTheLesser, welcome back to the forum.
If the monitor has never worked with Win 10 you should go to Proview's website for the correct driver for the monitor. I believe that the problem that you are experiencing is caused by an incorrect driver.
