Hi @Faustin2

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your computer screen is not receiving a signal, and the orange indicator light typically means the monitor is in standby or "sleep" mode, where it isn't detecting any input. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Power and Cable Connections

First, make sure the issue isn't related to the power or cable connections.

  • Power Cable: Ensure that the power cable is securely plugged into both the wall socket and your computer or monitor (depending on the setup).
  • Monitor Cable: Double-check the connection between your computer and monitor (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, etc.). Ensure the cable is firmly plugged in on both ends. If possible, try using a different cable to rule out a faulty one.
  • Power Button: Check that the power button on the monitor is actually turned on.

2. Test the Monitor

It’s important to verify whether the issue is with the monitor or the computer.

  • Try a Different Device: If you have another device with an HDMI/DisplayPort/VGA output (like a laptop, console, or second PC), try connecting it to your monitor. If the monitor still shows the orange light and doesn't display anything, it’s likely the monitor itself is malfunctioning.
  • Test Your Monitor Elsewhere: If the monitor works with a different device, the problem is likely with your computer or its graphics card.

3. Check the Computer’s Power and Boot Process

The orange indicator light on the monitor could also indicate that your computer is not booting correctly. Let’s check the system:

Power LED Indicators: Look for any other signs of power on your computer. Is the power LED on your computer lit? Are there any fans spinning or sounds coming from the system (e.g., hard drive or fans)?

  • If the computer seems powered on (e.g., LED lights, fans spinning) but the screen stays black, the issue may be with the graphics card, motherboard, or system settings.

Try a Hard Reset: Shut down the computer completely. Then, disconnect the power cable from both the computer and the monitor. Hold down the power button on your computer for about 10-15 seconds to discharge any residual power, and then reconnect everything and try turning it back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
