My computer touchscreen has been spazzing out for the last couple of months. At random intervals during the day, it just starts clicking the upper left corner of the screen and sometimes other places by itself and wont stop until i put the computer on sleep or just leave it to be for 5 minutes. Then 10 minutes later after a break it all starts up again.
I cannot type or watch videos because screens are always closing and exiting or clicking around everywhere when im typing so i end up with random words in places by accident because the computer clicked away.
I have bitdefender antivirus, so I'm very sure (99%) its not a virus as im also very careful what sites to visit and what to open or download. I have also turned the mouse off, and it's definitely not the mouse so thats 100% ruled out. I went to device manager and disabled the HID compliant touch screen and that didn't work, so I just ended up deleting that driver and even that didn't work which was very surprising.
I dont know what else would be the solution. Could someone please help.

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
As I understand the touchscreen isn't working as it should, as it's spazzing out, (I have just the right exercises to fix the spasms or identify the cause) Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Did you check if it works fine on the BIOS screen to identify if it's either a hardware or a software issue?
- If it works fine on the BIOS (Accessed while tapping F10 during a restart) it's a software issue & I suggest creating a new user account to check if that works better, for starters)
- However, if it doesn't work within the BIOS either, I'm afraid it's a hardware malfunction and you'll need to Contact HP to have it repaired.
- Does the mouse work fine? it doesn't go around randomly clicking things does it? perhaps check with an alternate mouse to rule that out as well?
While you respond to that, I have a few more steps that should help:
Attempt to run a test from the HP hardware diagnostic tool, using this link: https://hp.care/2yTWjBQ (for details).
If the Touch screen isn't appearing on the diagnostics, it could again, determine a hardware failure,
If it works on bios & the hardware tests passed: please update the BIOS & Chip-set drivers from the HP website using this link: https://hp.care/2rbrsPQ;
if the issue persists, reinstall windows using the recovery partition or the recovery media to fix the issue, use this link for details on performing the recovery: https://hp.care/2LwsGNj
If none of the above helps, it's because its a hardware malfunction, and it requires a repair,
