Hi there. I have a new laptop and want to use my HP Pavilion AIO as a display monitor.
I've tried connecting an HDMI cable between the two devices but my laptop isn't picking up the All-in-One as a display/monitor.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks so much.

Use Wi-Fi and Miracast both system support it
The below link gives instructions on adding a laptop to desktop or vice-versa using Wi-Fi.

if you run into problems post back.
[edit] I looked at the spec for your system
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06642857
under "ports" only USB is listed. Normally, both HDMI-in and HDMI-out would be listed so I guessed you do not have an input to allow the AIO to be a monitor.
Is there more than one HDMI ort on your AIO?

Hi, thanks so much for responding to my question.
I have one HDMI port and I do have a USB-C dock also.
In your suggestion, you recommend using the Microsoft Wireless Display Adaptor. Do you think this will then work given I do have a HDMI port and USB to make the connection on the bank of the AIO?
Thanks so much,
Melinda

You do not need an adapter. Both your systems support Wi-Fi and either one can be used as a second monitor to the other.
You only need that adapter if using a TV set or a dumb monitor.
the following might be helpful. Read my post near the bottom.
