Monitor 2709m, desktop 590-p0024
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

What cable do I need to connect the old monitor to the new desktop? Monitor currently has a DVI-D single link (digital only) cable.  The new computer does not have a connection for this type of cable. The monitor appears to have on outlet for HDMI. @Jackpine , welcome to the forum.

According to the Product Specifications and your pictures, the monitor and the computer, each has a HDMI port.  This is the best port to use to connect them.  HDMI supports both audio and video in the same cable.  Here is an example of what you need:  https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dynex-3-4k-ultra-hd-hdmi-cable-black/7525166.p?skuId=7525166

You will be able to go to your local BestBuy or Walmart and get just what you need.  Look for a cable that is reasonably priced.  It has been proven that the $100 cables are no better than the $10 cables for everyday use.  If you can get a more expensive cable on sale cheap, good for you!
