My Grand-daughters threw a toy and it accidentally hit my HP Pavilion All-in-One 24 touchscreen and cracked it. I was wondering if there was a way to connect it to an external monitor to use for work until I can afford to have the screen replaced? I've connected it to an external monitor via HDMI but the screen doesn't show any icons or background, however, when I click on the "grey lit" screen it dings as though I'm clicking on incorrectly. I tried clicking the F10 button because it looks like 3 screens next to one another but to no avail. Any assistance is apprecitated in advance.

According to the support help, there are two HDMI's and perhaps you are using the incorrect one. Use the one labeled HDMI out to connect to the external monitor or TV.
You might have to tell Windows where to find the external monitor . Right click on a blank spot on the desktop screen, then pick Display settings. Then open the section for multiple displays and then "Detect other display" to verify that it can "see" the external display and then adjust settings to match the resolution etc of the other display.
I'm not an HP employee.
