Hello everyone,

I am having a persistent issue with the HP Display Control utility on my HP Pavilion 27-ca0006ns All-in-One PC (Product ID: 53X44EA) running Windows 11.

For about a month, I’ve been receiving a notification for a "Critical Update." I have manually downloaded and installed the file HPDP_Service_4.8.67.0.exe as an Administrator.

The issue: Even though the installation completes and I can verify that HP Display Control is indeed updated to version 4.8.67.0, the system keeps prompting me over and over to download and install this exact same critical update. It seems to be stuck in an infinite loop and won't stop showing the alert.

What I’ve checked so far:

I confirmed the installed version is 4.8.67.0.

I ran the installer with Administrator privileges.

The "Critical Update" message persists regardless of the successful installation.

Is there a way to stop this annoying notification? Is there a newer version (higher than 4.8.67.0) available that fixes this bug, or perhaps a specific registry key that needs to be cleared?

I would greatly appreciate any help or guidance on how to solve this.

Best regards!

Hi, thanks for your reply. The solution you suggested works, after disabling the automatic startup of HP Display Control, the message no longer appears, and the utility can still be used by launching it manually. I just have one additional question: where can I check for and download new versions of this utility?
Regards

Users report that new update fails or keep showing pop even after successfull installation. Ignore or disable, Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), go to Startup tab, find "HP Display Control" or "HPDC_Service", disable it, then restart. This stops popups without losing functionality. You can check it again after sometime when newer version available.

By checking for update in HP Support Assistant app or by going hp driver page if your laptop/pc.
