I have a Sony mini DV handycam and wish to transfer some videos. My PC does not have a firewire port, how can I best connect my handycam.

Can I add a firewire port to my PC?

Hi,

Sorry, I am not familiar with the product but using Google, I can only see it supports up to Windows 7.

Regards.

Hi,

Your machine has no room for a firewire card, it does not have any PCIe slot.

Therefore the only option is to use USB - Firewire conversion. Unfortunately not all of them work. Few year back, I tested 2 of them and they did not work therefore I gave up. Many people also gave up:

Note: I've got a very expensive Sony (when I bought it) and a Canon, they both use DV tapes. I bought a PCIe firewire card for my old desktop and transferred all tapes to an external HDD as avi files.

Thank you.

Would you know if a Pinnacle Moviebox Ultimate unit will work with Windows 10 and if so, do I need any specific software?
