Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I use two external monitors via a USB display adapter on my laptop, and it has worked well until yesterday. One of the monitors has stopped showing my screen. I flipped the HDMI inputs, and the opposite screen stopped showing, while the other one continued to work. I replaced the USB display adapter, and the same thing occurs. What might be happening with my graphics?

Hi @whansen777,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

It seems like the issue could be related to several factors involving your setup. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Cable Connections:

  • Ensure that all cables are securely connected. Unplug and re-plug the cables to ensure a solid connection.

Testing Different Ports:

  • Since flipping the HDMI inputs makes the other screen stop working, it suggests that one of the HDMI ports or cables may be faulty. Try using another HDMI cable to see if the outcome changes.

Inspect the USB Display Adapter:

  • Although you replaced the USB display adapter, it might help to ensure that it is properly connected to the USB port. Test it with different USB ports on your laptop to determine if port-specific issues are present.

Go to device manager

  • Universal serial Bus controllers
  • Intel{r} USB 3.10 extensible host controller { all the host controller has to be uninstalled}
  • Click on right click and uninstall and restart the unit.

Display Settings Configuration:

  •  Windows,
  •  Go to Settings
  •  System
  •  Display and see if both monitors are listed.

Test with a Different Device:

  • Connect your monitors to another computer or device using the same USB display adapter to determine whether the issue is with the laptop or the monitors themselves.

I hope this helps, Please keep me updated if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
