Ok.....So my monitor started cutting out and after a few full boots I was able to get it to kick on and then after a short time you would hear a click and the monitor would cut out again. The computer would keep running. When I disconnect the monitor from the PC and reconnect it the monitor light turns blue but then says no signal and stays black. I have the 1999 Ambios 686 so I tried the cmos reset but don't believe is has pins so I just pulled battery etc. Still nothing. I believe my video/graphics card is built into the motherboard so my question is, can I go buy a new video card and install it in the open slot and transfer my monitor cable to that vs the one built into the motherboard bypassing and leaving that one dead?

hi
I couldn't find any documentation for this model.
If your monitor works with another computer, indeed, you likely have a problem with the onboard video, but it could be a faulty motherboard or something else!
So don't spend a crazy amount of money on a graphics card..
If we can lend you one...
so I'm not sure what you can use, but probably older generation
if you remember your bios version:
In theory only old graphics cards
AMD Radeon HD 6xxx cards, or a Nvidia GT (X) 6xx card
can be used
on condition of having the required power supply for the chosen model
