MrRobot,

I am struggling with this issue too.

My laptop is HP Envy with HDMI port available and my monitor is HP EliteDisplay with DisplayPort and DVI-D ports available.

I understand that I need an active adapter because I already bought a cable that is useless because it's not bi-directional.

MrRobot, which is recommended: DisplayPort or DVI-D? It seems like the DVI-D converter options are better priced, so if the performance is the same, I would prefer to spend less $$.

Thanks!

Just to close the loop here, I ordered an HDMI to DVI-D cable from Amazon (US$ 7).

It works perfectly from my laptop's HDMI port to the DVI port on the monitor.

Thanks MrRobot for the advice 🙂
