HP E27q G5 QHD Monitor
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Bought a new HP E27q G5 QHD Monitor and the display graphics looks squashed. Can't change resolution to fix it is grayed out. Went HP site to download new driver for HP E27q G5 QHD and downloaded SP144538 for Win 10. When I run as administrator get an error "Failed to Extract Archive" with an OK to end program. Anyone any ideas. I was on Chat with HP for 45 minutes with a braindead Customer Support agenda who kept asking if it was plugged in? Brand new monitor and using new cables supplied in Box. Yes plugged in, new cables, no spills, I said it was used with an HP Towner PC kept asking what laptop I was using? Frustrating to say the least. Hope they send a survey.

I don't know how to help you with that.

You should have just been able to download the file I attached, right click on it and select 'Extract all' from the menu.

I downloaded the driver from the monitor's support page.

I used the free 7-Zip file utility to extract the exe file into its driver folder.

I deleted the HP installer file and readme file from the folder and that just left the driver.

I zipped it up and attached it.

I even downloaded and unzipped it to the driver folder using the instructions I just provided to you.

I recommend you manually update the driver as follows:

Download and unzip the driver file I attached below to its folder.

Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager.

Click to expand the Monitors device manager category.

If the driver is not installed, there will be a Generic PnP Monitor listed.

Click on the Generic PnP Monitor

Click on the driver tab.

Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that you unzipped.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Then you should see the device listed as a HP E27q G5 QHD Monitor.

Thanks for the help and I think I have found the problem. 1. The first time I tried to extract the file it did not work but did setup the folder and file. I deleted the folder and tried again, and it worked. 2. I also have a monitor splitter and I need to take it out to see what happens.

You're very welcome.

If the driver installed, you should now see the correct monitor description displayed under the Monitors device manager category.

Thank you for the help and after several tries and needed to go to the Nvidia site and download the drivers which took more than once but got it to work. It was "stuck" with generic drivers' PnP type. But got it to work. Again, thank you!
