I have had 2 monitors working, then the second monitor intermitently went to black and white static. I replaced the monitor and the new monitor worked great for a few months. Now it has gone black. The weird think is that when I boot up the system it displays the busy circle and the HP logo, but once windows boots up it goes black.
I have tried swtiching the display 1 and 2 and mirroring a single desktop to both 1 and 2. I've installed all the various drivers related to the this device with no success.
I'm worried that the graphics driver is killing the 2nd monitor given how fast the new Samsung SE310 monitor died. And this all happened about 3 month post warranty. 😞
Any idea how to diagnose this problem?

Thanks for checking on that. I appreciate you taking the time to verify all this.
Yes, I agree that it is not good for monitors to go bad this frequently. Please keep in touch for any further assistance from us. Good luck! 🙂

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP ENVY Desktop - 750-114 PC. I read that you connect two monitors to the PC and both monitors work fine initially.
I read that the second monitor went black. SO you replaced it with another monitor and after few months, the second monitor is black. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- You mentioned that "when I boot up the system it displays the busy circle and the HP logo", this means that the monitor should be good. Because initially, it displays the circle.
- Have you tested the monitor on another computer?
I'd like to inform that the video card does not make the monitor go bad. I suggest you to try connecting the first monitor to the other HDMI port and check if it has a good display.
If the monitor works fine then I suggest you to update the graphics driver via this link.
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂

I tried the 2nd monitor on my tablet that has HDMI, and it did not work but a good monitor did work with the tablet. I suspect that the issue is related to the video resolution. In that it works at VGA resolution but fails when it switched to high res. I'm suspecting that it is the monitor. My concern about the graphics killing the monitor is because I had an old monitor on this port and that died (maybe old age), I replaced it with a new Samsung and it died in two months. Maybe a coincident, but annoying and worrisome all the same. I have swapped the good and bad monitors on the HDMI ports and the bad always stays bad. I plan to contact Samsung on Monday since the monitor is under warranty.
